March 09 - 22, 2013
After 16 years of providing unique group travel experiences, Novack's is beyond excited to annouce our first tour to Africa with "Highlights of South Africa"
South Africa is an exciting place to visit. Cape Town, with its vibrant nightlife, stylish young people and beautiful surroundings, has become one of the most desirable destinations in the world.
And the country's natural attractions are as appealing as ever: the green vineyards and rocky coast of the Cape; the arid landscape of the Karoo; the rich farmlands of the Free State and Mpumalanga; the snow-capped peaks of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg range; and the verdant hills and wide beaches of KwaZulu-Natal. The country also has more than 300 game and nature reserves, along with some of the finest lodges on the continent. Your surroundings can be as wild or as genteel as you want—or both.

Highlights Include:
Pretoria
The country's administrative capital and part of Tshwane Municipality, Pretoria is 30 mi/45 km northeast of Johannesburg, less than an hour's drive. Important sights include the Paul Kruger House (so precisely furnished that you'd think the late president still lived there) and the historical Melrose House (for its antiques).
Also noteworthy are the African Window Museum (particularly its San rock-art exhibition), Freedom Park (a story of South Africa's long road to liberation told through a created and natural landscape) and the Voortrekker Monument, commemorating the Great Trek and the voortrekkers, who departed from the Cape Colony between 1835 and 1854.
Adventures in Pretoria are always on the cards. In view of its youthful population, Tshwane/Pretoria is a magnet for extreme sports lovers and their choice of endorphin-inducing activities.
In Pretoria, adventures range from airborne attractions to fun watersports to fantastic hikes in unspoilt nature reserves. For starters, jumping out of planes has long been a pastime of Pretoria's adventure set.
Kruger National Park
Kruger National Park is one of the world's most famed protected areas - known for its size, conservation history, wildlife diversity and ease of access. It's a place where the drama of life and death plays out daily, with up-close, action packed sightings of wildlife almost guaranteed. One morning you might spot lions feasting on a kill, and the next a newborn impala struggling to take its first steps.
Nelspruit
Nelspruit is known as an adventure destination because of the wide range of thrilling activities on offer in this diverse landscape with its rivers, canyons, mountains and forests. Try your hand at paragliding, abseiling, quad biking, canoeing, micro lighting and many other thrill-chasing adventures.
Cape Town
Cape Town is overlooked by Table Mountain, a flat-topped stone behemoth that rises above the town, dwarfing even the tallest skyscrapers in the business district. But don't spend too much time gazing at the view. There's more to the city than its picture-postcard profile.
South Africa has been led by Cape Town in developing attractions to appeal to visitors. Those efforts, along with a post-apartheid vitality, have made Cape Town an increasingly popular destination for travellers.
Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch was founded in 1679 and developed into one of South Africa’s wine meccas. This idyllic town is steeped in Anglo-Dutch tradition and has one of the most famous wine routes in South Africa. Also known as Eikestad (City of Oaks), is located about 50 km northeast of Cape Town. This beautiful part of the Western Cape Province is the second oldest European settlement after Cape Town itself.
The Stellenbosch Wine Route is world famous and includes 106 cellars, most of which are visited by millions of thirsty travellers each year. You can enjoy a full day's wine tasting activities, wine buying and indulge in getting to know the great South African way of life.
Franschhoek
Franschhoek is renowned for having some of the top restaurants in South Africa. This quiet town’s pristine beauty, strong winemaking heritage and exquisite architecture have made Franschhoek into what many describe as the ‘food and wine capital’ of South Africa.
The Franschhoek Valley boons with the treasures that make it one of the most magical places to visit in South Africa. Originally called ‘Olifantshoek’ (meaning 'Elephant’s Corner') by the Dutch government who gave the land to French Huguenot refugees back in 1688, Franschhoek offers a 'Cape Dutch' culinary experience like no other.
